VAC Residency Hanoi
Fully funded by the Vietnam Art Collection, VAC Residency Hanoi is part of the LAUNCH program, a platform dedicated to supporting artists and cultural practitioners working in or coming from Vietnam. Inaugurated in April 2024, the residency encourages participants to explore new materials, methods, and conceptual approaches that extend or challenge their existing practices. We actively foster cross-disciplinary exploration and collaborative practice. Through partnerships with institutions and individuals worldwide, we offer artists access to a range of resources that enrich the residency experience and strengthen their professional networks with cross-regional visibility.
Our Program
Each residency cycle spans three months, including two months of production and one month of open studio presentation. Artists are encouraged to take initiative, extend invitations to guest collaborators, and engage in conversational ways of working. The program offers curatorial guidance, logistical and network support, and opportunities for community-based engagement.
The residency is hosted in a repurposed domestic space in Hanoi, transformed into a flexible studio and gathering site. It functions simultaneously as a production space, a site for exchange, and a platform for public programming. We work closely with each artist to support the realization of at least one short-term project, while also encouraging experiments that move beyond their comfort zones and expand long-term artistic vision.
At its core, VAC Residency Hanoi aims to provide a temporary haven for artists and cultural workers to think, make, and reflect outside institutional or commercial constraints. We value situated learning, embodied knowledge, and the unexpected outcomes that emerge from open-ended processes. Whether through field research, site visits, or simply the time and space to contemplate, we support forms of creative mobility and flexibility that are often unavailable in conventional structures. Our team is committed to building an adaptive and artist-centered environment, responsive to the evolving needs and aspirations of each resident.
