Mission Statement
"VAC is committed to supporting, honoring, and showcasing Vietnamese modern and contemporary arts in a global context."

Core Value
Vietnam Art Collection (VAC) is a non-profit, research-driven art organization based in Hanoi, New York and Shanghai. We believe building a collection is a process of engaging with the community and also making contributions to a healthy ecosystem where artists, curators, writers, and creatives can grow and thrive.
Initiative
Our initiative centers around three pillars: ARTIFACT, a research archival project that serves as a platform to amplify the voices of Vietnamese artists and reflect on the modes of knowledge production; LAUNCH, an alternative support program incorporating residencies, exhibitions, workshops, talks, screenings, and fellowships; and the Collection, including works ranging from modern masters of the Indochina period to emerging artists of our time.
History
Founded by the Chinese-American collector Mr. Niu, VAC was officially established in Hanoi in early 2023. We first launched the archival research project to investigate the history of modern and contemporary Vietnamese art. After numerous studio visits and interviews with key members of the Vietnamese art community, we realized the importance of building a support system for young Vietnamese artists to grow and facilitating cross-regional dialogues. In the summer of 2023, we formed a global advisory board, including seasoned art professionals with a wealth of academic knowledge and extensive experience in the ever-evolving global art market. In April 2024, we launched a 3-month artist residency program in Hanoi, hosting two artists for each residency cycle throughout the year. Later that year, we made a debut show in Shanghai with artists from our collection and residency program.
As an extension of the ARTIFACT initiative, we launched the ARTIFACT Journal in May 2025. The inaugural issue was released at the 19th Venice Biennale of Architecture, in collaboration with architect Trung Mai as part of the exhibition, Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective. curated by Carlo Ratti. This biannual publication encompasses art, culture, design, architecture, literature, photography, film, music, fashion, and other forms of contemporary expressions brought forth by artists, writers, photographers, and creatives of Vietnamese origin and beyond. It will be printed in Vietnamese, English, and Chinese, with limited editions to be distributed to partner organizations, cultural spaces, institutions, and relevant platforms globally, while accessible online in digital formats to reach broader audiences.
